“Love is . . . Being happy for the other person when they are happy, Being sad for the person when they are sad, Being together in good times, And being together in bad times. LOVE IS THE SOURCE OF STRENGTH.” ― Susan Polis Schutz
Love is never an accident… neither is it incidental, or happenstance. Real love is deliberate. It lasts, not because of how you feel about another – but because of your dedication to your commitment. Therefore, real love can only grow stronger… it can never fade.
If you truly love someone, it will drive you to sacrifice for that person, sometimes at your own loss, and do many things that go against your instinctive emotions. Sometimes, love must endure pain and hatred to complete itself.
Real love is not an emotion… it’s a commandment from GOD – “Love one another; as I have loved you.” And although our emotions become heavily involved, real love is not based on how we feel… and feelings cannot be our only criteria for love. Real love… is tested love; and it cannot be shielded from the side effects and consequences of real life.
The problem with trying to “find” love these days is that, too often people don’t always look for the right characteristics in another. Rather, they look at:
- Physical appearance
- Financial status
- Feelings and emotions
However; those are not the traits that GOD looks for… and neither should you. Overall , the most perfect description I’ve ever read concerning what real love really is, can be found in the Bible in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. It says:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
Love is eternal! And, if it’s real, both parties will know it’s real. If love is there, then it goes on growing and growing, because love knows the beginning… yet, it does not know the end – because there is no end.
