“…you can breathe easy in knowing that, while you may ache for the moment of completion of being with your future companion, being single is actually OK. Within those somewhat lonely nights full of painful growth… while you are waiting, you are being made whole.”
We are always waiting on GOD for something in our lives, and it is so encouraging to be reminded that He has made many people before us wait on Him as well. He never gives us anything, He knows, we are not fully prepared for, even when we think we are. His timing really is perfect for answering all of our prayers and meeting all of our needs.
There is no mention in the Bible of, “Waiting on a knight in shining armor.” However, there is much mention about waiting on GOD. If marriage is on your wish list, keep the faith. Shift your wishes to your prayer list… and continue to wait on GOD.
Being single for a season, so that you can be worked on and molded into something lovely and whole, is wise and responsible. Once you do meet the lucky individual who gets to marry you, wouldn’t you rather be that rounded, emotionally stable, fully evolved person they deserve?
While you’re praying… and while you are waiting on GOD, be content in knowing that you can be fulfilled in GOD and in your own path, without having to desperately cling to another beating heart.
If you want GOD’s best… don’t try to:
1. Manipulate a situation to make it work
2. Orchestrate your prayers to fit your wants
What Your Prayer Should Be
Ask GOD to bless you with someone who has a heart after Him. If you are going to have to submit, you don’t want to be with someone who is going the wrong way. If they are going GOD’s way, then you both will be fine… and your relationship and marriage will as well. If your mate is not sold out to GOD… or if they are not willing to commit to GOD’s will in some way, get off the train at the first available stop, and don’t look back. Save yourself the trouble of future heartache.
Don’t give up just because you don’t see anything happening today… or because it is not happening fast enough. Remember, GOD has His own timetable. Maybe there is nothing physically happening that your eyes can see, but there is definitely something happening in the spiritual realm as you learn to rely on GOD.
Don’t allow your waiting period to make you hopeless about what tomorrow will bring. Instead, let it build your faith and give you even greater hope for what God has prepared for you.
