Why You Should Create A Personal Mission Statement

You are a part of a greater cause. Live your life like you’re on a mission. Find your purpose… pursue your dreams, and enjoy life. Life does not last forever.

I think about the END of my life every day. I know it sounds a bit morbid and gloomy… but, I do that so I can look back to figure out what I would’ve wanted to accomplish, and then, that’s the direction I end up taking.

It’s too late, when you get old and your steps begin to slow down, to try to go after the things that matter most to you. It’s not impossible at that point, but it will be very difficult to accomplish anything of value. And, I know you want to be valuable… simply because you are reading this post.

Take some time; put together a personal mission statement for your life today. Give your life’s purpose some thought. Let people see what you have to offer.

MY PERSONAL MISSION IN LIFE is to:

“Serve GOD by being a good example of Him to others. I look for the strengths in everyone, and the good in every situation I face… in order to create a positive environment everywhere I go. I strive to make everyone feel welcome in my presence, and yet retain my strength and individuality by being a bridge of understanding and a tower of integrity. I seek daily to find peace and humility in myself by looking within my heart and using my Christian values to guide my dreams and desires.

Each day in my life’s journey, I work hard to build a reputation of being dedicated to every goal I choose to pursue – while having successes in my personal, spiritual and professional life. If I can enjoy every moment of my day finding laughter, love, and happiness among the negatives of life, then, I can begin the next day with a renewed spirit to start all over again.”

This statement has helped steer me more towards what GOD wants for my life… and further away from my own desires… simply existing, or living life by chance from day to day.

As you write your mission… choose the values that are most important to you, the values you believe in and that define your character – and your relationship with GOD. Then live those values visibly every day – at work and at home. Living your values is one of the most powerful tools available to you to help you be the person you want to be, to help you accomplish your goals and dreams, and to help you lead and influence others. Don’t waste your best opportunity. Don’t waste YOU!
