“There are two ways to be fooled. One is to believe what isn’t true; the other is to refuse to believe what is true.” — Soren Kierkegaard
Life is as real as it gets! There are times when your mind will play tricks on you and make you feel as if nobody cares. One day you’re strong, but the next, you might spend it crying out for help. But what could be so drastic that would cause you to shift from one extreme to the next… at the wink of an eye? The short answer to this question is, “The Enemy!”
It’s not just you. Since the beginning of the creation of humanity, Satan has set out on a vicious mission to deceive us. Many times, the brilliant ideas and wonderful thoughts that come across your mind may seem so real and necessary, but all they are… are gruesome tricks by the enemy to trip you up in repeated attempts to hinder you on your Christian walk.
6 Tactics The Enemy Uses
1. Deception – Satan’s most successful tool. He wields this tool with devastating results.
2. Doubt – Makes you question God’s word and his goodness.
3. Discouragement – Makes you look at your problems rather than God.
4. Diversion – Makes wrong things seem attractive so you want them more than the right things.
5. Defeat – Makes you feel like a failure so you don’t even try.
6. Delay – Makes you put off something so it never gets started or completed.
One of the biggest tricks the enemy uses, is to try to speak to your mind… telling you, “You’re not good enough the way you are” so you need to be more like this person or that person. Or, he will make you think… if you’re not living the “high-life… and doing this or that thing, then, you are not truly getting the most out of life. But, Beware! Satan already knows where his eternal home is; now he’s looking for company. And you know as well as I do, “Misery loves company.”
Why do you think you can be on a high one-day, then the next day wonder why you were ever born? You feel useless. One day you are ready to conquer the world, and then the next day, you wish the world would fall on you, just to take you out of your misery.
Regardless of Satan’s tricks and schemes, our GOD is a GOD of love and happiness. He never operates in competition, confusion, or deceit. Everything He does has order. Always! The Bible says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” – John 10:10 (KJV)
